Out East Therapy is able to provide a variety of services to suit your
child's needs. We are approved early intervention providers according to the
requirements of the NYS Department of Health. We are also approved related
service providers through Nassau and Suffolk County and the New York City
Board of Education.
We are a diverse collection of professionals who are trained to provide
therapy services using various modalities and protocols including but not
limited to:
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists will assess your child's basic motor skills, coordination, strength, and balance, determining their developmental strengths and weaknesses. The information obtained during this assessment process is used to create an individualized therapy regimen to aid your child's development of needed skills.
Occupational Therapy
After assessing your child's strength, dexterity, fine motor coordination and sensory-motor functioning, our occupational therapists will create an individualized therapy program to encourage your child's development of needed skills for daily living and to assist them in accessing and participating in all areas of their educational program.
Speech Therapy
Our speech therapists will assess your child's ability to comprehend and use language, creating a therapeutic program to address each child's unique needs in order to aid their development in this area and to improve their verbal skills as needed for successful participation in their educational environment.
Sensory Integration Therapy
We use all of our senses to function at an
optimal level and to organize ourselves in everyday life. Our senses:
tactile, visual, auditory, olfactory (smell), taste, proprioception, and the
vestibular sense work together for us to effectively interact with the
environment. Sensory Integration is an unconscious process of the brain that
allows us to organize all of these senses, filter out important sensory
information from ambient sensory information, and use various pieces of
sensory information as needed.
A child may show some of the following symptoms if he or she is having
difficulty with sensory integration:
Auditory
Visual
Taste/Smell
Body Position
Movement
Touch
